Fujian Haixi Pharmaceuticals Co., Ltd. (HKEX: 2637) is pleased to announce that Dr. David Nicholson and Dr. Stephen Fawell have joined the Company’s Scientific Advisory Board (SAB), further strengthening Haixi Pharmaceuticals’ global R&D and innovation capabilities.

Dr. David Nicholson

Dr. David Nicholson brings more than 30 years of global pharmaceutical R&D and leadership experience. He previously served as Executive Vice President and Chief R&D Officer of Allergan plc, Chief Technology Officer and Executive Vice President of R&D at Bayer Crop Science, and Senior Vice President of Licensing and Knowledge Management at Merck & Co., Inc. He also held senior R&D leadership positions at Schering-Plough Corporation and Organon. Throughout his career, he has led or played key roles in numerous innovative drug R&D programs across oncology, cardiovascular disease, CNS and ophthalmology, including programs involving pembrolizumab (Keytruda®).

Dr. Nicholson currently serves on the boards of several biotechnology companies and is an Operational Partner at Gilde Healthcare. He holds a PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Wales.

Dr. Stephen Fawell

Dr. Stephen Fawell is a recognized leader in oncology drug discovery. He spent 15 years at Biogen, later Biogen Idec, where he built and led its oncology research organization. He subsequently held senior drug discovery leadership roles at the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR) and served as Vice President and Worldwide Franchise Discovery Head for Oncology at Merck & Co., Inc., where he supported the early development of pembrolizumab (Keytruda®).

From 2013 to 2024, Dr. Fawell served as Vice President and Head of Oncology Discovery at AstraZeneca plc, leading a team of more than 400 scientists across the US and UK. During this period, he supported the development of osimertinib (Tagrisso®), olaparib (Lynparza®), acalabrutinib (Calquence®) and capivasertib (Truqap®). He currently serves on the Board of Directors of C4 Therapeutics and advises several biotechnology companies and venture capital firms. Dr. Fawell holds a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Leeds.
